What is a #VisualAbstract?

Some journals like (Annals of Surgery) now allow authors to create short infographics about their research to include with the online version of their articles.

Articles with visual abstracts are more likely to be viewed, read and shared, especially on social media which can help increase an author’s altmetrics.
