An infographic is a type of data visualization that is usually less data intensive and more focused on telling a story rather than individual figures and graphs.

According to Piktochart, there are 7 basic infographic layouts:

  1. The useful bait layout (i.e. for beginners, it’s easier to repurpose a good template)
  2. A versus or comparison infographic
  3. Heavy data layout (to make complex data easy to read and understand)
  4. The roadmap (the storyline directs the reader’s attention)
  5. Timelines (good for historical and chronological events)
  6. and a Visualized article (#VisualAbstract)
